-JW

A coach is someone who tells you what you don't want to hear, who has you see what you don't want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be.

-Tom Landry, Dallas Cowboys

I've always loved that quote from Tom Landry because it captures the essence of what a good coach can bring to any competitive endeavor. Growing up I had athletic coaches helping me get the most out of my abilities. During my early professional career I had several senior engineers and business managers who mentored me and coached me on how to become a thoughtful and effective leader. In fact to this very day, I still rely on the objective observations and guidance from professional coaches who I hire to guide me and my business through uncharted waters and situations.

So before we go further in seeing if I'm the right coach for you, I'd like to introduce myself and tell you just a little bit about my background so you'll understand why I'm qualified to coach you and teach you all about today's current marketing strategies and how to use them to grow a business into a high valuation market leader.

To begin with, I live in the Akron/Cleveland area of northern Ohio where I graduated from the Cleveland State University with a degree in Engineering.

After graduation, I spent about 10 years working in R&D Engineering for Rockwell International where I came to realize that I enjoyed the marketing side of developing new products much more than I liked the engineering and manufacturing side of the business.

That being the case I moved into a product marketing position where I became a global Product Manager traveling the world learning about every facet of global marketing and doing international business.

After doing that for a few years I eventually moved on to become a Business Manager responsible for the P&L of a small start up business unit where I learned about the hard realities of making the quarterly numbers while keeping employees and customers happy.

After that I went on to hold senior managerial positions in a variety of large organizations doing strategic planning, business development (M&A) and other general business management roles.

Then lastly I went on to become the general manager for a small electronics design and manufacturing service provider where I was responsbile for everything from hiring to shipping.

Over the past 30 years I've been privileged to work for and with some of the world's best companies (large and small) such as United Parcel Service, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, Honeywell International, Samsung, Digital Equipment, Dynapro, Weidmuller, Maple Ridge Vineyards, Match-Marks.com, Donuts2Go.com, One Source Technical, Western Reserve Controls, LogiSync and several others.

So how can I help you improve your business?

As an Executive Coach/Consultant, I'm taking everything I've learned over the past 30+ years (what works and what doesn't work) and passing that knowledge on to other business owners and general managers who are struggling through all of the same, classic, business issues every business struggles with.

Issues and questions such as:

  • "Our results aren't what they should be and my company just isn't living up to its potential!"

  • "I feel like we're operating in reactive mode most of the time"

  • "It takes too long for our major initiatives to get implemented"

  • "We start projects but they're never completed"

  • "I know we have a great service to offer, but the customers just aren't flowing to our store or website!"

  • "I know we need to do something to improve our results, but I'm not sure where to begin. I feel frazzled and overwhelmed just thinking about it."

  • "We're definitely not making enough money. I'd like to charge more but I'm afraid our customers/clients wouldn't pay."

  • "I feel like we're right on the edge of something great, but we're missing a critical piece and haven't quite figured out what it is."

  • "We have so many competitors and I'm not sure how to make our business stand out"

Perhaps you've had some of these same issues and questions yourself?

So if you're struggling with any, or all, of the above issues and questions, the good news is, I'm here to help you overcome these challenges by being your personal advisor/coach/consultant.

As Tom Landry also said, "A winning coach gets grown men [and women] to do the things they don't want to do so they can achieve the things they want to achieve."  I'd like to do that for you and your team.

Let's talk.
